Cody Wojdyla Financial Planner
Integrity, innovation, and flexibility are the cornerstones of creating and managing a successful financial plan.”

My Story

Prior to becoming a financial planner, my main passion was hockey, growing up and playing in Syracuse, NY. I continued playing Junior A in a variety of cities around North America including in Canada, Chicago, Saint Louis, and Bozeman, Montana. After Juniors, I had a successful college hockey career at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, twice making the ECAC all-academic team while majoring in business management with a concentration in finance.

I was undecided after my senior season at RPI whether to continue to pursue hockey or change gears and enter the financial industry. It was a corporate finance course that helped me realize that it would be much more interesting and rewarding helping individuals and small businesses navigate the financial landscape rather than entering the traditional Wall Street structure. Living in many different parts of the country and interacting with coaches, teammates, billet families, and team supporters from so many different regions and walks of life helped guide my decision to become a financial planner, even though I didn’t realize it at the time.

In 2005 I was hired as a financial advisor directly out of college by AXA Advisors, a global financial company based in France, that at the time was the 13th largest company in the world. It was there that I realized I could take my work ethic and drive that I had honed in during hockey, and transfer it directly over to a career in financial planning. In-depth training, veteran leadership, and a focus on retirement plans made AXA an ideal company to begin my career with.

In 2010, myself along with four more experienced advisors, set out to continue our financial planning careers not under the effects of a corporate parent company but rather complete independence for ourselves and our clients. Rosemont Financial Group was born. Working for a large financial institution meant having to use their products, their strategies, and a more limited selection of options for both. At Rosemont Financial Group, we work directly for our clients as their representative, always fully being on the client’s side as a fiduciary. Being a founding partner at Rosemont has allowed me to see many changes in my industry, advances in technology, and where financial planning and investing are headed. My focus for the next decade is to always be improving. What separates me from other advisors is constant improvement in technology, systems, client experience, and cybersecurity, just to name the most important. In a financial landscape that changes daily, the same old style that advisors have used since the beginning of time won’t continue to keep pace with the 21st century. These advancements don’t always come quickly and easily but judging by the last 10 years specifically, the next 10 will have a vast array of possibilities that I plan on utilizing to the fullest for our advantage.

While my competitive hockey days are over, I will always continue to play in various leagues, tournaments, and out on the pond.

Other than a passion for personal finance and investing, my interests mostly revolve around the outdoors and adventure. I live in both Saratoga Springs and Old Forge, NY with my wife, Katie, and dog Marcy and enjoy snowboarding, wakeboarding, mountain biking, hiking, scuba diving, snowmobiling, and fishing. I am an Adirondack 46’er, having climbed the 46 largest mountains in New York (all of which are located in the Adirondack Park), I have run the NYC Marathon, and have been to every state except Alaska.

Three key areas of separation from other firms and advisors

Independence

Because I am fully independent, I have the choice of hundreds of investment and insurance companies to use to help meet our goals. I face no corporate pressure, product requirements, or “sales” goals. I am a fiduciary, always putting the needs and goals of my client ahead of myself and Rosemont at all times.

I keep it layman

While I can get as technical as is needed, most often I talk at a level you can understand.

Technology

As current clients have seen, I am prepared to introduce any technology into my business that will give us an advantage towards a successful financial plan. In the last five years we have seen new risk analysis tools, financial planning software, and investment analysis tools that have hit the market, all of which I have invested in or upgraded to. This will continue during this tech expansion of great financial tools and information.
